Sensory Rooms for Special Education Needs

The main feature of special education is that children go through a development customized to the capabilities of the individual child. This means that the children deserve an appropriate place in the education system where the child is challenged and where their potential and their disability is taken into account.

A MSE/Snoezelenroom for this group has a great added and supportive role in advancing development that is based on the possibilities. Within the MSE/snoezelenroom activities can be offered that connect to the learning lines. By making use of a deliberate and methodical approach within the snoezelenroom the facilitator can let a student to relax, observe and development or influence behavior.

For this individual target group we design the MSE based on its unique five principles:

  1. It is a place of rest and relaxation to improve concentration.
  2. It is supporting the development of skills.
  3. It offers activities to increase self control.
  4. It is a challenging area that seduces the child to explore.
  5. It consists of flexible equipment that can be adapted to the needs of the child.
